Sliquid vs Good Clean Love: gentle lubes compared

Sliquid vs Good Clean Love compared: gentle, low-osmolality water-based lubes, fertility and dryness lines, and 2012 lab figures side by side.

Updated October 2026 · 5 min read

In short
  • Both are small, wellness-minded brands and were the lowest-osmolality water-based gels in a 2012 lab study: Sliquid Organic 106 and Good Clean Love 269 mOsm/kg.
  • Sliquid leans on glycerin-free plant cellulose and offers a silicone too. Good Clean Love adds fertility-friendly and vaginal moisturizer lines.
  • Vaginal secretions sit around 260 to 290 mOsm/kg, so Good Clean Love's 269 is a near match. The WHO ideal ceiling is 380.
  • Test dates matter: these numbers come from products tested around 2012.

If you came here after reading about osmolality, you probably noticed two brands keep turning up at the gentle end of the chart. Sliquid vs Good Clean Love is the natural next question. Sliquid and Good Clean Love were both founded to help people who react to ingredients in mainstream lubricants.

They overlap on many points (water-based, pH-minded, vegan-friendly, condom and toy compatible) but differ in range. This comparison covers formulas, the lab numbers, fertility and dryness products, and which to start with.

The lab numbers

Dezzutti and colleagues measured 10 water-based gels in 2012. Six were hyperosmolar, and those reduced tissue viability. Two stood out as close to the body's own osmolality: Good Clean Love at 269 mOsm/kg (pH 4.8) and Sliquid Organic at 106 mOsm/kg (pH 6.8). For reference, the WHO ideal is 380 mOsm/kg or less, and vaginal secretions measure 260 to 290.

A caution about reading these numbers. Sliquid Organic's figure is below the body's own range, which makes it hypo-osmolar rather than a perfect match. In the 2008 slug-irritation study, a very low-osmolality gel (FemGlide, 32) was hypo-osmotic while PRÉ (316) was iso-osmotic, and the WHO limits are upper limits. Good Clean Love sits squarely in the iso-osmolar window. Both are far from the 2,000 to 6,000 that the WHO note says is typical.

Ranges beyond the flagship

Sliquid has a compact range in our catalogue. Beyond H2O, Sassy is its thickest gel (glycerin-free, fragrance-free), Organics is an aloe-based gel with organic juice and botanicals, and Silver is a pharmaceutical-grade silicone (which, like all silicone lube, needs care around silicone toys). It also sells a bundle with an intimate wash.

Good Clean Love covers more of the wellness side. BioNude is a plant-cellulose gel for people sensitive even to aloe, Liquid adds hyaluronic acid, Restore and Rehydrate are vaginal moisturizers (aloe with lactic acid, and a hyaluronic acid gel), and Regenesis is a fertility-friendly lubricant. For where to go next, see our aloe & natural and fertility-friendly pages.

Fertility and dryness

Good Clean Love is the one to look at if you are trying to conceive. The Regenesis listing says it is formulated to support sperm viability, uses calcium and magnesium ions, and "does not decrease sperm motility". That is a maker claim. For context, the FDA has a separate product code (PEB) for fertility-friendly lubricants, which has had only 10 clearances in total, and in a cohort of 6,467 women lubricant use was not associated with reduced fecundability. Our fertility-friendly lube guide goes deeper.

For dryness, the North American Menopause Society lists non-hormonal lubricants for sex plus long-acting moisturizers as first-line care in less severe cases. Good Clean Love's two moisturizers are made for that role, while Sliquid's gels are lubricants. Rates of vaginal dryness in the SWAN study rose from 19.4% to 34.0% across midlife, so this is a common need. Persistent pain deserves a clinician's help. See lube for menopause and dryness.

VerdictBoth brands earned their gentle reputation in the 2012 lab test. Pick Sliquid if you want glycerin-free formulas, a thick gel option and a silicone in the same family. Pick Good Clean Love if you want the closest match to the body's osmolality, an aloe-and-organic story, or help for fertility and dryness. Either is a solid, sensitive-skin-friendly start. In their water-based forms both are condom-safe and toy-safe, and water-based formulas rinse off for easy clean-up.

Questions

Which is lower in osmolality, Sliquid or Good Clean Love?

Sliquid Organic measured 106 mOsm/kg and Good Clean Love 269 in the 2012 study, both below the WHO ideal ceiling of 380.

Is Good Clean Love fertility-friendly?

Its Regenesis product is marketed as fertility-friendly and says it does not decrease sperm motility. Its other lubes are not labelled that way.

Is Sliquid glycerin-free?

H2O, Sassy and Organics list themselves as glycerin-free. Check each product because the silicone is a different formula.

Do either of these treat vaginal dryness?

Good Clean Love sells vaginal moisturizers for dryness. Lubricants only help during sex. See a clinician if dryness is persistent.

Sliquid vs Good Clean Love: which is better for sensitive skin?
