Flavored lube: fun, with a patch test

Flavored lubricants, often sold as edible lube, are made for oral play and often come in fruit, vanilla or mint. Many are water-based and advertise sugar-free formulas. Warming lube and cooling lube add ingredients that create a gentle tingling sensation and can be a lighthearted addition for couples.

Added flavors and sensation agents are also the most common triggers of irritation, so skip them if your skin is sensitive and consider a patch test. Edible does not mean for every body: sugar-containing formulas may not suit people prone to yeast infections.
